As I continue this study of Hegel, (First of all, I think I made a great choice in starting with Houlgate. This book contextualizes so much that I am often finding myself going to tangents. What I mean to say is that it feels like the concepts are starting to form in my head that they have their own direction after becoming a thought.) I am starting to connect the loose ends between each idea in my head that have been left uncategorized in my brain. I would say that I am probably a Hegelian and I didn't even know it. Following this experience, I was also probably a Kantian in a sense of recognizing the existence of the noumena.

I posted this six years ago with the understanding that all that we perceive of the world are all constructs. The world for me is a multi-layered appearances of language in which we project our own identity, carrying all beliefs and understanding that there must be something rather than nothing.

"I learned that we approach every thing through a web of relationships and differences but never by approaching itself directly as a thing-in-itself."

I just understood what this means and perhaps it was the very foundation that I am operating in this world prior to my understanding of it. I felt like I am only understanding myself intellectually after all these years. Roots begin to emerge into a more sensible whole. Nietzsche becomes a comfort read compared to Kant and Hegel. This can of worms is something I'm still about to open but I'm learning to see through the cracks. I've never felt more intellectually alive.
